Whole Bargain? Whole New Concept for Whole Foods
News flash for foodies: the upscale natural and organic food retailer Whole Foods, otherwise known as Whole Paycheck is venturing into low-budget territory with a series of discount pilot stores in the economically-challenged areas of Detroit, New Orleans and Chicago’s South Side. Along with lower prices, the pilot stores will also have fewer salespeople and more food that’s either frozen or pre-wrapped. The move is seen as part of the grocery behemoth’s repositioning as a grocery store for everyone, not just the well-heeled. So what would you call these new stores, besides Whole Makeover?
