The most distinctive feature of the new iPhone 7 isn’t part of the phone at all, but its wireless headphones. Though AirPods have been criticized for their shape and price ($159!), users have deemed the sound quality decent, the Bluetooth pairing easy, and the Siri access distinctive. But the name AirPods is so, well, iPod meets MacBook Air. So listen up, PopNamers—let’s pull the plug on Apple’s conventional, over-done name.
