Boomer is Better: Renaming “Senior Citizens”

 

Our later years are supposed to be the golden ones, but the language around senior citizens doesn’t reflect that optimism. Perpetually youthful-feeling Baby Boomers have come to expect longer lives with higher quality, so why are they stuck with words that sound so, um, elderly? According to a recent study, half of so-called seniors don’t like the word “senior,” with most preferring “Boomer” or another term. We say it’s time to show our elders proper respect. What would you rename “seniors”?
