Indenticrisis: Naming Those Who Love Coined Words
We love neologisms; it’s a big reason we created PopNamer. So we were extremely excited to learn about the project to unearth one million words that are missing from the capital D Dictionary, like roomnesia (when you can’t remember why you walked into a room) and farecasting (predicting when tickets will be cheapest). This incredible project has inspired countless people to get involved. But we then realized, here’s the million-word question: what do we call OURSELVES? We, lovers of coinages, neologisms, and vernacular. WHO ARE WE? We’re not just PopNamers, we’re more than stuffy “logophiles” or everyday slang users, we’re something bigger than all of that! So stop staring at your palm, it’s time to do some real soul searching. What do we call those who love coined words?
