Flesh from the Pharm: Renaming “Test-Tube” Meat
Culture isn’t just for museum buffs or a night at the opera anymore. Relatively soon, your steak might be highly cultured too, as a recent New Yorker article on test-tube meat suggests. Imagine biting into a pork chop that came straight to your plate from a petri dish. It sounds a little creepy, but in vitro meat could be a source of quality protein for the world’s booming population, while improving animal welfare and lowering the environmental impact of raising livestock on a massive scale. However you feel about it, how would you re-name “test-tube meat”?
