Howling at Our Natural Satellite: Renaming The Moon

FullMoon2010

Io, Oberon, Calypso, Elara. We could spend many moons listing them all (and many have awesome names), but at the end of the day we’ll arrive at the same startling truth. There’s one that’s missing a name – ours! Yes, it’s right there at the top of the list, looking like the sad, boring kid on the team who didn’t do anything cool enough to get a nickname like everyone else. But The Moon is cool! Having inspired magic, romance, science, I mean it’s right up there with The Sun (oh jeez, we’ll have to come back to that one too). Nevertheless, the time is now, time to embark on a PopNamer of astronomical proportions. Yes, Houston, we’re coming in loud and clear. We’re going to rename The Moon.
